But I'd Rather Risk My Fate... Than To Lose My Faith

I've been listening to this song all day... 'Raise The Alarm' by The Living End. Kind of an atheists/agnostics anthem but when you look at the lyrics, it rings a sentiment that a lot of us felt when we decided to leave that mind controlling cult that most of us here had the unfortunate experience to become involved with. Especially my favourite lines which I titled this thread with.... 'But I'd rather risk my fate, than to lose my faith'...

Raise The Alarm - The Living End

I may not believe in God
    It doesn't mean I'm a lesser person
    I still have a heart
And I know what it feels like to be broken

I may not believe in Jesus
    But I believe in sacrifice
Life doesn't always stand a reason
And no one ever gets a chance to live it twice

But I'd rather risk my fate
    Than to lose my faith
    In the lovin', the hatin'
    The constant debatin'
    The chaos, the calm
    Raise the alarm

    The living the dying
    The constant denying
    The chaos, the calm
    Raise the alarm

    Whoa, whoa...
    Raise the alarm.

I may not believe in regrets
    But I believe in salvation
    Some things I'd rather forget
    We choose what we see
And we see what we choose to believe

In the name of the father
The son, and the holy ghost
    I'm not concerned with religion
After all it's what's inside that matters most

But I'd rather risk my fate
    Than to lose my faith
    In the lovin', the hatin'
    The constant debatin'
    The chaos, the calm
    Raise the alarm

    The living the dying
    The constant denying
    The chaos, the calm
    Raise the alarm

    Whoa, whoa...
    Raise the alarm
    Whoa, whoa...
    Raise the alarm

But I'd rather risk my fate
    Than to lose my faith
Yeah, I'd rather risk my fate
    Than to lose my faith
    In the lovin', the hatin'
    The constant debatin'
    The chaos, the calm
    Raise the alarm

    The living the dying
    The constant denying
    The chaos, the calm
    Raise the alarm

    Whoa, whoa...
    Raise the alarm
    Whoa, whoa...
    Raise the alarm
    (Yeah!)
    Raise the alarm

That's pretty much all I wanted to say for now... thoughts?

For some reason, the sound doesn't come through on my computer.

But, ya, I like the lyrics, too.

Thanks for posting Brinjen, being an Old Fart I had never heard of this band, they seem very accomplished ,and the lyrics are great !

I think that lyric you highlighted applies so well to many of us who have left and found freedom, we ain't gonna risk that by joining some other group, even if only joining mentally, freedom is too precious !

I used to be a roadie for a local band in the sixties, and their sound reminds me a lot of the raw bands that sprang up and died then, I hope this band continues in its obvious success.

    Love

Exactly! Btw... The Living End have been around in the Oz music scene for more than a decade now... not so well known elsewhere though.

Oh you Aussies and your Aussie music....

I only listen to opera. Screaming women in different languages is quite calming...

    Love your smiley's, BTW.
