Witnesses and apostasy from the WT

"Apostates" are considered by the WT to be the worst kind of sinners, and summarily shunned at all costs. While there is no scriptural basis for this when the seeming proof-texts are analyzed....fear and loyalty to the org always allow this to keep going on. In the book of Matthew, Jesus was tempted by the Satan the Devil. Indisputably, Satan was the original apostate. As professed Christians, JWs claim to be footstep followers of Jesus. What did Jesus do when this apostate known as Satan tempted him? He answered him- directly. Why have the GB again deviated from the example set out by Jesus? I am going to try this on some relatives and see where it goes.

In James it says to resist the Devil and HE will flee from you. It seems the GB has it backwards, having its members flee from the Devil (assuming their assertion that apostates of the GB are pawns of Satan).

    Thoughts?

Try it. It still won't work. They've been conditioned to avoid answering the questions of "opposers". I forget the reason..

I agree it likely won't work civicsi00...they are pretty much trained to dismiss without even hearing you. lalalalala I cant hear you!

    Just a thought though.

Nodding - and if you take "apostate" as it is defined - then even Christ was an apostate. He left his Jewish faith to establish a new covenant, did he not? And Paul, Peter, all of the apostles? By definition, they were apostates.

Excellent reasoning, but that's the trouble, JW's are allowed to reason.

They have to do this to protect their viewpoints. Allow anyone to cross-reference anything the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger puts out, and pretty soon you have people no longer doing what the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger tells them to. The apostates know that Christmas is scriptural (Luke 2:10-14, and other places telling us to celebrate). The apostates know that the Trinity is, in fact, a Bible teaching. And, the apostates know that field circus is not a required aspect of serving the Bible.

Even worse, many apostates even see discrepancies within the Bible itself. Many see no proof of the existence of a God--others see God as non-existent. Still others see God as a vindictive Tyrant that seeks to stifle mankind. For sure, that is not going to help the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger to get people to love God (who would want to love a vindictive Tyrant). Not to mention, anyone viewing Satan as a friend and Jesus as being more like Satan than Jehovah is going to have a hard time being afraid of the demons.

    Great point Issac.

It's so easy now, to be away from their attempts at bait and switch distraction to see things as they really are.

In fact, the whole point of the meetings, study and service is to keep you too busy to think.

I was about a month from leaving when I talked with my last CO, (Steve Gilmore) who said that it "takes more reading and study then ever to stay healthy in the faith." I stood there and just looked at him, already mentally free, and it dawned on me the goal of the GB; to indoctrinate and overwhelm you with their particular brand of spiritual bullshit.

As an American, I don't always agree with my government, but I will never stop loving my country, and I don't need to listen to propaganda telling me how to love my country. My views are informed and are my own.

Any religion that only allows you to serve and love god their way, instead of your way, is a cult.

    It's really that simple.

Well, I think we all already know that JW's are a cult that barely registers anyway. They are small time, with a big time inferiority complex.

Or, we could say that Jesus was the foremost apostate. He openly challenged the religious leaders and their doctrines. Apostates today follow Jesus' fine example!
