My wife is decorating the house for Halloween as I am typing this.
We are not satisfied with just a pumpkin and some flying witch sticker on the door, no sir. Our house will be so scary when we're through, that even the JW's will be afraid to drive by it.
"Don't go down that street" as Br. Car Captain admonishes everyone, "That house is not of this world, its a lurking place of demons!"
Starting the transformation process today, it will take one full week of hard work to complete. (promise to post pictures when finished)
So, why would ordinary people, former JW's be so excited about such an obvious pagan-demon inducing-Satan attracting holiday? That's the question even some exJW's want to know answered.
The answer may seem simple, but I assure you, it has deep meaning to us, "we ain't afraid of no ghosts!"
The GB of the JW's instill this fear into all unsuspecting JW's. They, the GB make you afraid, and of course, they are the ONLY ones who can save you from these insane wicked spirits. 14,000 times you will see Satan's name in just one year of the WTS publications. That's no accident. That's a constant reminder he, the 'lord of evil', is ever out there trying to get you. Reminds me of a mafia protection racket, "we can keep your business safe from us for a fee"
"You shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free from the GB" - Dissed
For us to do this, we, my whole family have to feel several things are true.
One, you have to see through the lies and teachings of the demons, as defined by the GB, we do.
Second, you REALLY have to believe they can't hurt you, we do.
Thirdly, and this to some, is one of the hardest things for a former JW to do. Is an outward display that you no longer believe in this crap and do so by observing the holidays. That fear of displeasing JG, even when you know this is not true, can weigh heavy even on exJW's. Not only do you have the fear of death at Armageddon, but you could lose the protection of JG, as the demons can come down on you. That GB instilled fear runs deep, doesn't it?
True, its easy to do Thanksgiving, Birthdays, and some Christmas stuff when no one sees you doing it. Heck, many JW's are doing those already. But Halloween, with all the costumes, decorations, and demon stuff, shows everyone, you are no longer, not just a JW, but they, the demons and the GB, NO LONGER have a hold on you.
When you can do this, have fun, and flaunt it, in front of your neighbors, and the JW's, you're showing you are trully free from their control. You are not living in fear.
Yes, there is a bit more meaning to this Halloween for us. Its an outward display that we are finally free from them, and they no longer own us. Besides, its a lot of fun.
