...but I find that my core questions about this invisible friend remain.
Why, if this "friend" had the ability to look at and mentally perform the experiment of looking at every configuration of "stuff" PRIOR to actually doing it, would he/she/it do it? Why bother creating at all?
What would be the point?

There's the theory of creation being the actual process of "thinking" of the configuration of the "stuff". You're just a figment of God's imagination
