What about this one in Cuba?

There are too many many JW in Cuba....

Communism is good for JW, the ban usually is not very strict, and for many people to become a JW is a good mental escape from the communist reality, and when communists say "you shoud not join JW" - its actually a promotion.....

Grotty, but I always found that the more impressive the K Hall...The less impressive were the people.

Perhaps it is not so bad by local standards?

Growing up in rural SoCal and more rural NorCal we were in converted houses. In more populated areas, the architecture was a mimic of the surrounding residences, so they looked like houses on the outside but had been built as halls inside.

Then in my teens we built this grotesque block of ugly in the middle of a walnut grove in NorCal. No aesthetic that I could see, though maybe it tried to be some kind of modern revivalist "wathtower". Hideous. More horrific: the politics, and shenanigans, the payoffs, the lies and deceipt that went into building it.

Bluesbrother: yes its not bad compared to local standards....

Funny they usually compare conditions in Cuba to Eusrope or US to show how poor they are, but in fact compared to other caribean or southamerican countries, they live pretty good in Cuba....

Of course, 20 years ago they were receiving huge financial support from soviets and other communist countries and lived very very good.... so now the life standard did drop a lot....

Our Kingdumb Hell had problems that were not common to the region. Those Kingdumb Hells are ugly, but they reflect the bad economic situation in Cuba. The one I used to go to had a lawn that was methodically scalped, and flower beds that looked more like the Amazon. They also planted begonias that looked like they were barely alive. There would be a few flowers, and very few leaves on them.

In this country, there is absolutely no excuse.
