I've just realised it's really easy to get email addresses of witnesses by searching sites which host personal web space. What are your views on sending out mailings and what kind of info would you send and do you think it's right (I noticed many of the pages appear to be JW children). Any thoughts?

Leave the kids out of it...
The adults are fair game, but leave the kids alone.

Ballistic,
I'm with Stephanus on this one. We have no idea to who we may be emailing. It could be a 10 year old child.
Let the children have a little normality in their lives. We risk becoming as bad as the JW's.

Ballistic, it reminds me of the JW practice of reading newspaper obituaries and visiting the mourning families with the 'good news'.

G'day Ballistic,
The trouble with mailing the truth about the truth to jw kids is it could stuff up thier home life and any chance of a 'normal' upbringing. It's a tough one I'll need to sleep on before profering an opinion. How would i have reacted as a 13 year old? I think it would have been the best thing anyone could have done it could have saved me years of heartache, and given me a university education etc.. (i was already looking up JW's in the school and state library)
cheers, unc.

Welcome to JWD LaDonnaAna,
I hope you have a wonderful time and make some good friends here, perhaps you could tell us a little about yourself sometime. Got any interesting hobbies? For some strange reason I have the urge to drop my duds and wax moonfully.

If the first 3 repliers notion was followed nothing would be sent because you can't be sure the age of a person. I say they do need the information, all do regardless of age. If you compile a bunch of the emails send a copy to [email protected] please.

yeah, the thing is, the method I have found of automatically harvesting email addresses from a search of web sites containing "jehovahs witness" at a given URL such as an ISP members homepages simply collects ALL email addresses from pages containing that text regardless of page content / age of person, etc.
Thats why I wanted to hear peoples opinions. -

Hmmmm... unsolicited 'visits' into somewhat private domains...
Sounds like some other folks I know of...
I don't think it matters whether you lead the horse to water, or carry the water to the horse... same rule applies: you can't make him drink. And unless you want someone standing on the street with a sign that says YOU 'break up families', I would say what others have said: leave the children out of it. Their parents have a 'right' to teach them what they will, Ballistic. At least, they do in the USA. They, in turn, at some point in THEIR lives, have a right to go SEARCHING... for what is truth.
Don't do it, Ballistic (and peace to you!)... please... don't do it.
A slave of Christ,

An even better place to gather JW E-mailaddresses is in JW-guestbooks. I have had a lot of fun so.
You can send them smallpieces about the UN-hypocricy. But make it short. Don't send long complicated mails.

Children still are under thier parents until they reach 18.
If they are 16 or 17, I don't have a problem corresponding with them. They are about to become adults.
If any younger their upbringing is up to their parents.
I am more concerned how their parents are not monerting them on line. Looking at an XJW site is one thing, they may be looking at site which parental controls should be on.
