The move to central UK (either Milton Keynes or Derby) has been scrapped - it has not yet been formally announced but is common knowledge in Bethel

The Society is now buying a "Brown Feld Site" (the old gas works next to Bittacy Hill) for a reduced rate and a HUGE Government Grant as the land needs to be cleaned before build. They are selling some of the prime land at Bethel they own for housing (planning permission has already been obtained).

They are using part of the site of the french Bethel for storage of magazines (thereby circumventing the new tax laws) and are selling the rest of the site off.

More news as soon as I get it

    The site

The site at Mill Hill covers the area of the ex Bittacy Hill Gas
works at Mill Hill, North London. The area is to be developed for
commercial and residential purposes. It is at present within the
water supply area of Thames Water Utilities Ltd.

    The proposal

The Director General of Water Services (the Director) proposes:

    i) To vary the appointment of Anglian Water as a water
undertaker so that it includes the site in its Water Supply
    Area;

ii) To vary the appointment of Thames Water as a water
undertaker by excluding the site from its Water Supply Area.

The Director considers that this proposal will facilitate
competition in the provision of water supplies.

At present, the site receives temporary building water supplies from
Thames Water to enable clearance of the site. The site will not
benefit from a connection at the time the appointment is made.

    Customer representation

Thames CSC is the relevant Customer Service Committee to
represent the customers in the inset area.
