Does the publication contain peacock terms? It is even full of them at times?

Peacock terms promote the subject of the article without imparting verifiable information. Examples include describing people as "important", "main", or "among the greatest" in their field, without explaining why. When using these terms, make sure you have sources to support them, and that the reader understands why the person or subject is so regarded.

1917 'The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society is the greatest corporation in the world, because from the time of its organization until now the Lord has used it as his channel through which to make known the glad tidings...'" The Watchtower, 1917, p 22

Scotinsw: "I think its got worse over the years."

If you read the Finished Mystery from cover to cover you will realize that they have a ways to go before sinking that low. Not by much, mind you, but still, with Charles Russell as the "Angel" of Revelation 1 and the 'God' of Revelation 16:9 they have yet to stop their roundabout way of making themselves God and just coming out and saying it directly.

In almost every issue of the WT, you will read this phrase, or something close to it: "How happy we can be that Christs brothers have survived till our day as the Faithful and Discreet Slave, represented today by the Governing Body. These men humbly and prayerfully care for all of Christs interests...."

Funny since the Governing Body are always the ones who writes about how humble and concerned they are, how spiritual they are.

I like the "peacock" definition. Haven't heard of this before....

One reading of any issue of the WT, especially the newer ones, will convince a person that they are not exactly examples of great writing style.

They don't want you to look up the sources. If you do, you will find out that what the original says is not what the Washtowel claims. Especially if you take the original in context.

A Witness came by my Store a couple of Saturday's ago and left an Awake on Family life, are they getting lighter, as in is the paper getting thinner or with fewer pages. It was almost like a tract. I wish them well on the Family thing, they must have a divorce rate of at least 50%.
