"(So and so) is no longer a Jehovah's Witness."

    What year approximately?

No. In fact, the announcement was just the same "So and so has been disfellowshipped/disassociated from the congregation."

When the new Organized book came out, the elders were told not to institute it till 2006, after all the KM schools were done and letters were sent. So in effect, 2006.

So the meeting I was present for in January this year , when the annoucment was made ('changes to the anouncement') means we're 3 years behind here in Australia ??? or maybe it was just a reminder??? who knows... I was only half paying attention that night- still a bit peeved after reading the stuff on 'how to treat a DF'd person' earlier during that meeting

Wow, don't I feel old, the last time I heard the disfellowshipping announcement it was "So and so has been disfellowshipped for conduct unbecoming of a Christian."

I remember, back in the fifties and sixties, when it was always common knowledge as to why someone was slung out, can't remember the exact format of the announcement. (Partly common knowledge because my friend had his ear to the door when his father (Cong. Serv) had the JC meeting in his house, we rented Halls in those days.) Nobody kept anything confidential it seemed.

Of course even today, the gossip-mongers make sure that everybody knows why.

I guess this "Noo Lite" "Gradually Refined" over the years is because Jehoober is very slow at reading Law books on Libel and Slander etc.

I am thinking there had to be some "legal" reason for the change. Probably some lawsuit? A lot of their organizational "new light" changes now-a-days have to do with the law on their tail.

I believe it is for legal reasons too. JW's greatest skill is to degenerate legitimate issues and debates against them into semantics games. In this case, they can say that no one is disfellowshipped anymore...... I guess.

There isn't any point to it otherwise.
