On page 18, there is an article entitled, 'Religious Persecution in Georgia-How Much Longer?' For those of you current with the situation in Georgia, you know that the Witnesses there have been receiving many physical attacks. You also know that the key player leading the attacks is Vasili Mkalavishvili, the defrocked Orthodox priest. Anyway, let me just end this post with the footnote on page 19:
"Vasili Mkalavishvili was expelled from the Georgia Orthodox Church (GOC) in the mid-1990's after harshly criticizing the GOC for its membership in the World Council of Churches (WCC). (The GOC has since withdrawn its WCC membership.)"
Italics and bold words were used for emphasis.
Faithful Witnesses criticize the Society for their UN membership. The crtitics get reproved or expelled. The Society promptly withdraws its membership. See the irony?
