Shari: "I see."
Jill: "So one thousand two hundred and sixty years after the trampling of Jerusalem began brings us to the year 643 AD. In that year the Dome of the Rock, a pagan edifice was built on the site of the Lord's temple, completing the trampling of Jerusalem. Now Daniel chapter twelve verse eleven speaks of the abomination, that is this pagan shrine, being set up and blessings coming and the end of one thousand two hundred and ninety days, or as we have just learned; years, after that. One thousand two hundred and ninety years after 643 AD brings us to 1933 when Jesus began his reign in heaven. Of course there are many other prophecies in the Bible that confirm that we are indeed living in the last days. May I give you this copy of a publication called ‘THE WORD LEADS TO PARADISE’, which explains all of these prophecies?"
Shari: "I'd like to read that."

Sounds as plausible as anything the JWs have taught. What is the name of Jill's cult? I'd like to join.

Wow - with the plucking of any 2 or 3 singular Bible citations, you can just about make Jesus' invisible reign begin where and when you like! According to your fictitious religion, when exactly does THE END come, just so's I can start preparing myself! Your guess is probably as good as the GB's. I like it!

To put in a little missing background: Shari Covington and her husband Jerry have been Disciples of The Word of God Foundation for their entire lives. Jerry is a Servant at the local Gathering House where he lords it over spiritually guides the flock. Jill Harris is a new Disciple. This is lesson they are practicing at the Disciple-Making School at a weeknight gathering.
The Foundation has had a problem with predicting the time when God will establish Paradise on Earth, dates for the expected event include 1933,1940 and 1997. Currently, John Rodgers, the Foundation's Cheif Apostle is pushing a plan he calls "The New Work" by which the Disciples will prove to God that they are worthy of His reward. Most of the Disciples are enthusiastic about this plan even though they have no idea what they will be doing. Another couple, Mark and Lisa Whitworth, are doing their own (forbidden) research. If caught they will be "cast-out" and treated like "Outsiders."
How are those flashbacks?
