Please, please, let's not forget one of my fave singles "I'm Afraid of Americans" with guitarist Meshell Ndegeocello, when it first came out Howard Stern's sidekick Robin annually used to throw him a surprise bday party, and whatever year the song came out there was a live performance that morning on the air with Bowie and Meshell . . .absolutely a f"__'in classic piece of live music !! I'm in NYC, so I'm referring to his FREE radio show which used to air on KROCK before he signed with Sirius.

And we can't forget"Fame" although written by John Lennon, Bowie did the recording (with Luther Vandross doing backup) . . . which me reminds me of an interesting Lennon story, about 25 or more years ago, when I was still lving at home our neighbors son died, my mom went by to offer her condolences( what ?? a Jdub stepping foot in a worldly persons home !?!?!, but I digress) ANYWAY the woman showed my mother an album her son recorded, he was a gospel artist, that was personally autographed by John and Yoko saying they both admired his music . . .

SHIRLEY W- David Bowie is an excellent artist. One of my favorites among many growing up. I'm out of my limit of threads I can start for a day. I started 4 music threads, I'm spent. Perhaps YOU could start a Bowie thread. Just a thought

Im Afraid of Americans - CLASSIC!

OMG - that song is amazing!!

Shirley - was that Gail Ann Dorsey in Bowie's band? She looks a lot like Meshell (shaved head).........both are amazing!

If it was Meshell, man that would have been cool.....

(Only reason I ask is last few times I have seen him, Gail Ann was with him!)

I saw them do Fame live on "E" for one of Howard's b-day parties, it was so awesome. They really "nastied" up the opening guitar riff, and it just rocked.

Heroes, Boys Keep Swinging, Station to Station, Fashion, Scary Monsters, etc..............the guy is brilliant!!!!

The tape I'm referring to with "Americans" is definitely Meshell, I see you're deep into Bowie . . .I've never heard of Gail Ann ! ! !
