The WT had an International convention in Trinidad this past week and here is a picture of a young boy being baptised- get them early before they can undersatnd what they are getting themselves into. How old does this boy look? -

Poor kid. There goes his childhood. 66% chance he will leave JWs by young adulthood. Now that he is baptized, if he leaves, he will no doubt be disfellowshipped, shunned by family and friends. Hope he finds this site within the next 10 years.

We had an 11 year old girl baptised at our last circuit assembly in this large city in the UK!

As most have said, those WT growth numbers are inflated by all these children. Another childhood snatched away by the KH. We have lived here since July and JW parents down the street actually let their daughter out to play with worldly kids- she saw my daugher walking our dog and they started playing in the street- then she ended up playing at our house. I could tell she was starved for a playmate. We'll see if they let her play again today.

Good to see the old line about prolonged spontaneous applause being used again...

At our CA's and SAD's they would announce not to applaud until after all the baptisms were complete

Then we were allowed to applaud spontaneously.

I have seen this all too often at the congregation I used to go to. Children getting baptized around age 12 was the normal, though some held out (and were hounded) until 14 or 15. The youngest I have seen at the hall I used to go to was 10.

However, I have heard all too many experiences of younger children getting baptized. Just about every Grand Boasting Session has at least one experience where someone 8 or younger gets baptized, and those yearbooks like to gloat about people as young as 6 getting baptized. Now, if there was no penalty for leaving if it was not for you, all well and good. But, given the severe penalties for discontinuing one's membership and the impossibility of merely suspending it, this should never be allowed.
