since i was not raised in the "truth", i have been able to reconnect with many older friends that i left behind. one in particular is very close to me and we now get together about once a week for dinner or drinks. his wife and my wife have also become very close as well.

I was raised in the "truth", but fortunately for me I made friends everywhere I went, right from kindergarden. It didn't take me long to figure out that what they said about wordly kids versus JW kids was pure BS.

As a little girl, my neighbor. We still try to keep in touch a little. Our parents still live next door to each other so we hear about each other and our kids.Facebook helps too!

As an adult as I left...again a neighbor! Funny how that works! We've moved since, but I keep in touch a few times a year with our past neighbors! They can really give a lot of support and a fresh view on life!

I met a brilliant young man who supported me through my transition, encouraged me to return to school and is probably the only reason I am alive today

If anyone wants to count me as their first non-JW friend, here I am .

Lady Lee, I'm so glad you made it. I'm sure that brilliant young man is very happy, too. A friend in need...

I grew up as a witness and only had aquaintance type friendships my whole life ,witness and non-witness included . As an adult when I began my fade I became close friends with two women I work with ,each at a different workplace .Both have known everything about my fade and what it entails .

They have also both taken great delight in showing me the way of the world ! Ha One of the women is the happiest person I have ever met and she is determined to live life to the fullest .She and her husband are very active Christians in their church ,but also live a life of enjoyment . They have introduced me to bars and pub crawls ,festivals ,Christmas parties ect. She prays for me all the time and encourages me to go to church with her ,but when I don't she still is my friend and doesn't blackmail me emotionally like the witnesses did.

My other friend is accepting and one of those people that just gets along with everyone and makes friends with anyone she is around . She has shown me how great it feels to just be accepted for me .

It has built my confidence learning I AM a likeable person and that I don't have to perform a laundry list of feats before I am considered good association for someones friendship/
