OK this grandparent thing is a blast. I adore it.

My grandchildren gave me a "I Love You Grandma" calendar for xmas. What a joy it is to read. The quote for the weekend was:

Avenge yourself -- live long enough to be a problem to your children" Anonymous

This past holiday I took great pleasure in teaching my two little grandchildren (5 and 4) how to make popping noises with their mouths. The delight in the 4 yr old's eyes was pure magic once she did it a couple of times. Then they went off to do something else. A couple of days later she came up to me all excited. "Look Grandma" and made the most perfect pop and was so delighted with herself.

My daughter on the other hand gave me a wicked "How could you teach them that" look. Just wait until the 5 yr old is old enough to teach him how to make farting noises with his underarm.

Last year they absolutely loved when I read Little Red Riding Hood to them -- over and over and over again. I'm a very animated reader so when that poor wolf got to the third house the third little pig told him "Go ahead. Blow your head off" the kids would squeal in delight as I read that. Then when the wolf huffed and puffed and puffed and huffed he turned red and then blue but he could not blow that house down. They would roll over on the couch laughing their heads off.

Daddy wasn't amused. Mommy wasn't amused. I was getting them too excited before bedtime. The next visit the book was gone. But it was back this holiday and you can be sure they got it out for me to read. Mommy and Daddy gave up.

Before that was the fart book. Again a book that had to be read over and over. And it always had to be grandma that read it because she reads it funny.

Grand-parenthood is truly a special delight. All the fun, few of the responsibilities. I love it.

I have 6 g'kids who loved to be with me in days of yore.

Now that they're teens and tweens, they sometimes look at each other and roll their eyes when I say something.

There is one, however, who still likes me. He's taught me all about football (American style), and I'm hooked.

Thank for the topic, Lady Lee.

Nice pic on the other thread, also.

We have a bit of a different situation with ours. We occupy position of Parent and Grandparent, as we raise them since the birth of the youngest going on 6 years now.

The current 'fun' is FartPutty. It sounds pretty convincing and Tad is pleased when we look disgusted by the sound. I even found it fun to play with. Why is body function always a fascination with kids? Tad likes to burp loudly, or fart, and then grin and laugh as if he is the only one who ever did>

so that's how men learn that farting is something to impress people. My ex (the non-JW one) still thinks it is funny and something to be proud of
