what a douche!! these guys in homeland security
can be total jerks because they do have all sorts
of power, and they can be totally capricious about
who and why and how....i got stopped the day of the london subway bombings
at the border at sault ste marie, MI, me being a US citizen
and my passenger being canadian.....we were taking the shorter route thru the states
to NW ontario, rather than having to drive around
lake superior, to get her to thunder bay, ontario
and because she had paperwork and forms
GIVEN TO HER BY US FEDERAL EMPLOYEES when
she asked for info about work permits in the US,
the CBP agents detained us for 4 hours, searched
us and the vehicle, actually videotaping the process,
fingerprinted and photographed her, questioned us,
accused us of trying to smuggle her in illegally (hello!
we were AT THE FRIKKIN BORDER CROSSING) and
refused to admit her.... threatened me with arrest
and confiscation of my vehicle... turned us around
and said she couldnt return to the states until she
had jumped thru all their hoops....
canadian LE was so blasé about our forced return
it would have been laughable if my heart hadnt
been trying to beat out of my chest...it was THE MOST terrifying incident i have ever
experienced with law enforcement...
