after watching a recent documentry on "the final solution" i saw adolf hitler in some huge venue with thousands present public speaking and the crowd were mesmerised and full of praise for him judging by the response he got from them and the applause , i thought back to assemblies when people gave a similar reaction when in affect they were being told millions had to die to make the world a better place for them to live in and nobody seemed bothered by this (except me) and i even thought back then ,that something was not quite right , there was even a mention of a thousand year reign by the third reich , i thought that sounded familiar ! did anyone else think this or do i think weird things ?

nope, often thought the same thing, those who believed and those who didn't but dared not voice it.
I lost count of how many time we were told Hitler qualified for the resurrection

ps.. assemblies were those who believed, those who didn't but dared not voice it and those who were there to pick up chicks

Is there anyone with charisma in the Witness leadership these days? The manuscript talks you endure at assemblies are about as far away as you can get from a rally, in my view.

Have a look at the cult educational movie, The Wave, and see if it rings any bells for you.

thanks to those damn assemblies I have not been able to eat a donut in over 30years! I always seemed to get stuck on donut making duty...I must have eaten a bazillion of the burnt, drippy, misshaped, left over or otherwise unsellable ones

There was many a time that I could have sworne I heard a "zig heil" during assemblies...especially with the release of a new propaganda publication. We had an elder who called 'worldly' people "the walking dead"...but that it was okay because they all wanted to be wicked so god had to destroy them all because he loves his true people. It creeped me out then and still does now.

Nowadays, they'd kill for a speaker like Hitler. Most assembly speakers are more like George W. Bush.

The difference is one of style and delivery and also the leadership cult around Hitler (Not forgetting that the Nazis actually took action in their own hands rather than waiting on God to do it)
But...HAving said that the message is basically the same, behind the smiley faces. The elimination of those who are not liked and then the appropriation of their property so the true believers can live in paradise..
Consider:
True Peace & Security p 40/41
"The destruction of those who prefer this present system of things, then, is the price that must be paid to redeem from insecurity and suffering those who love what is right. This is in agreement with the Bible principle: “The wicked is a ransom for the righteous one.”—Proverbs 21:18; "
Insight on the Scriptures p 705/706
" The judgments of Jehovah are shown to be altogether, in every respect, right and for the good of those who seek uprightness. In due time God will clear the wicked out of the land, their death being the price of freedom for the righteous ones. Accordingly, the proverb states: “The wicked is a ransom for the righteous one; and the one dealing treacherously takes the place of the upright ones.” (Pr 21:18) "
