Theocratic mid-week meeting was just a session of "defence tactics" training Witnesses to automatically think of a defensive answer without even pondering the other persons point of view. Witnesses send everything you throw at them in the "trash basket" of their brain...only thinking of thier next defensive response. This is typical Cult thinking. Reading the Watchtower publications then asking a pre-determine question and sticking to the paragraph for answers is a form of mind control.....all the answers are in the paragraph and nowhere else.
Understanding the Witness trained mind! Theocratic schooled =always defending without thinking!

Yep, just a programming session. Repeat repeat repeat until the responses come out without the mind even getting turned on.

Exactly! They never listen to a thing... they can only hear to the extent that they scramble for a discrediting response in defense.

Good thought.
I just want to isolate one item, because I really feel it is frequently overlooked.
"without thinking"
Obviously, if we abdicate our responsibility to do our own thinking, we are responsible for that. But so often, I read of former JW's who don't seem to understand why their family shuns them. Why JW's are so happy to accept this decades version of what the generation of MT 24 is? How JW's can't see the contradiction between their door to door apostate making work, while never listening to opposers of JW's who are themselves deemed apostates?
I am not using that as an excuse. However, it is good to keep in mind that most JW's are NOT evil. They are in a cult.
If those who don't want to acknowledge that JW's are a cult, I give you this simple piece of logic, introduced here in this thead. JW's to one degree or another, are indctrinated to act and behave automatically. They are trained to react, never to think or reason.
Thats cold comfort I realize when you are the victim of the cult and the people, but, truth is truth. Understanding why JW's act (generally) from the correct perspective can help in many ways.

Agreed, Jeff. It absolutely helped me to eliminate resentment toward the JWs on the local level and focus whatever anger remains where it belongs, on the borg and its leaders.

JW Tactic`s:
#1: Ignore the Question..
#2: Answer the Question,With a Question..
#3:Blame the Catholics..
#4:Tell the person they called on,they need to leave now(Escape!)..
Jehovah`s Witness Ministry is pointless..
JW`s have no intention of discussing anything, with anybody..

It took me many years to break my wife's Witness mind set. It's amazing to see her think for herself and question things now....although it did take a huge emotional toll on her.
