Camera users beware

    Most people use a camera these days (if only on a mobile phone) but be wary of using an SLR camera at a convention.

    I heard of somone who was stopped by 'security' and questioned as to why they were using an SLR and implied that you may be taken for a peadophile if you do.

    I'm lost. What type of convention and why?

    SLR's = pedophilia?

    I don't get it. Do they think people are snapping shots of kids at the conventions? Why an SLR? They're kind of conspicuous, aren't they?

    If someone said that to me, I would just ignore them.

    The mirrors on the shoes were a dead giveaway.

    That's almost enough to make me want to go back to a convention carrying a Nikon D5000 with a 400 zoom lens and tripod...almost, but not quite. But it would be fun to see them try to question me...

    What Convention?

    When was it ?

    How was it said?

    I need specifics before I react to hearsay

    BluesBrother - It was a good friend of mine. I have no reason to doubt their word. It was quite a few years back at Twickenham, UK.

    The 'security' guy put his had in front of the camera as my friend was taking a 'crowd' photo and said 'you can't use that here, we've had problems with pictures being taken of children'.

    The real people you have to worry about are not the ones taking pictures. They are the attendants, because those are the ones that can set themselves up to be alone with the children. And they are not going to be taking any pictures at this point.

    This is just an excuse. The real reason they do not want people taking pictures is that they do not want them posted on YouTube. Because the ones that end up there expose what a waste of time going to these wastefests actually is, and people will simply decide that the religion is not for them once they realize children are pushed to pio-sneer as their "career".
