Compare the New Worlds Translation with all of these!

As you will see, if you look at all of these scriptures in the New WorldsTranslation Bible, The Jehovah Witness Bible, you will see, that in every instance the New World Translation renders all of these sciptures as PRESENCE! NOT COMING! They have designed their Translation to suit their interpretation that Jesus was invisibly present in 1914! You could say: "It is Taylor Made, to fit 1914"

Go into the Biblegateway, and do what I'm doing. Check out every Bible Translation that is on that programe, and compare them with the New World Tranaslation. You will get the same shock as I did, believe me. I think only one Translation uses Presence, and that's Younge's! Can every Bible Translation be wrong, and only theirs correct? I pick up the strange odor of Rat here, and you will too, if you follow through and check it out for yourself. Check em out!

For ex-Jehovah's Witnesses, this is argument which is not especially new.

Well, although I do not always defend the NWT, that translation will not be needed if "wording" is the same as all other translations.
IMO, that "significance of existence" is in the part different from others.

Various translations are good to investigate, but at this point, go to interlinear versions, and make sure more then just ones translated from the same scrolls. All translations are just that, 'translated', need to see the source of them to make sure.

    Alas!

The history of bible translation is a history of opportunity to inject opinion into text.

Almost the only reason for creating a translation in the first place is to violate the status quo.

It is well-intentioned, of course. It is called PIOUS FRAUD.

When "honest" people commit intellectual crimes we all suffer.

There is also the expression "The escape into present (tense)", meaning that when transalators are uncertain as to the exact tense or time frame of the verbal form, they tend to escape to the present tense in order to "avoid problems", as it is the easier way out of the difficulty. That NWT and other translations have chosen differing verbal tenses, migth not be "mis-translating" but attemps at coming to grips with the verbal tenses.

The real issue is not "coming" versus "presence," because the meaning of parousia falls somewhere between the two. Even in English, the idea of presence goes hand in hand with the idea of arrival.

So parousia can certainly mean, "coming" "presence" "arrival with a subsequent presence" etc.

To JW's though, the word doesn't just mean "presence" it means invisible presence. There is nothing in the word that even implies invisibility.

Compare NWT rendering of Luke 2:33 Jesus is refered to as IT!

Every other translation I know of, including the Diaglott, says HIM!
