i do know one jw family that will not even watch disney movies that relate to anything that have themes of magic or sorcery. most jws did watch cinderella, snow white, etc due to the focus was not about the magic and wizardry and such. the harry potter movies have that as a main theme. as for the smurfs, i think urban legend got the best of most jws and that was why. anytime you mention something and add demons to it, most jws run the other way whether there was any substantial proof of such or not.

umm all of my disney stuff was BURNED!!!!
We had Smurfs before the whole 'demon' thing happend and they too were BURNED!!!
Troll dolls were also included!
This all said years and years and years later after the WTS fury lessened......the person who burned all my Disney stuff now has a full DVD collection!
I think it is best to explain that JWs tend to follow what the WTS is saying 'now'...... so if say Facebook is the demonized item of the moment FB is bad bad bad and only those who don't love Jehovah will continue to log-on.

I don't get it, either.
They don't even approve of movies where the good guy is fighting AGAINST demons. HELLO! Isn't that what your Bible hero is all about doing? Why not ban the Bible then?
It's ridiculous.

Sometimes I just think that the magical content of these things is just an excuse to ban them: the time spent watching Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings could be "better" spent in the ministry. Also, it gives the easily stumbled brigade a chance to impose their warped views on the regular, more reasonable publishers.
Always having been a quiet person, I never really put up any resistance when told what I should or should not do: I would usually just roll my eyes and discreetly do what I wanted later on. The first time I actually spoke up was when the PO's wife found out that I went to see the Lord of the Rings. She came up to me in the hall, interrupted my conversation and told me with great indignation that it was demonic. Infuriated at her rudeness, I smiled, bowed my head in an old fashioned display of gentlemanly respect, and very politely said "that is your opinion." Seeing her eyes pop out and her body begin to tremble with anger at having been challenged was one of the most satisfying experiences I have ever had.
They only have as much power as you give them.

In light of this fact I would remind him/her of what they did, and demand restitution.

That's right, and it's incomprehensible to them when others no longer recognize that, as though they are deserving of that power that is given to them.
