It seems strange to me that there are so many people who seemed to be obsessed with the thought of the world ending. I'm not suggesting that the end of the world is not possible. There are numerous ways in which life could end for all creatures in one fell swoop. To suggest one would be a huge astroid barreling toward earth rocking the planet out of orbit and being sucked into the sun, (is sun supposed to be capitalized?) Wait a second, that astroid thing has already been covered in a movie, Independence day? Anyway, now with 2012 coming to DVD and other outlets will the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society have an unfair advantage. Luring the poor, the uneducated, and the third world oppressed populations to join up in greater numbers or at least keep the number floating at around ZERO by bringing in as many as are leaving.

That's right. Just look at the library of materials someone like Jack van Impe and the Copelands produce. They constantly wave their latest "just gotta have it book that has all the answers" in our faces and people eat it up in droves. What a scam.

Certain people need to feel exclusive, enlightened in a unique sense and throw in the very human need to beat death and taxes and viola! you have the shangri-la crowd.

It was Armageddon. Independence Day was about aliens trying to invade Earth.

For movies end of the world scenarios are very attractive. It can have everything a high-yielding Hollywood film has: love, bravery, stunning CG scenes, drama, nationalism (applicable for US only), controversy, religion, guns, explosions, sex, you name it, the end of the world has it.

On that note, if the JW EoW would be so interresting instead of the boring "all wicked will die", I would go to KH more often

People have been pulling this scam since we have been able to think.

Yes, the world will end. How, we do not know. We could be hit with an asteroid. The sun could blow up and swallow the earth. President Osama Obama could cause sickness with his sickness care bill and impoverish the country (and the world). We could have nuclear war. The earth itself could blow up or have a hyper-eruption that could exterminate life.

However, the scam of supernatural doomsday is nothing more than a scare tactic. Religions make this up to scare people into giving themselves up to the religions, so they can survive the end. The "how" of the end varies with religion--the Rapture, Armageddon, and going to heaven or hell after you die are popular variations. However, they are all scams designed to usurp value from mankind and hold us back. That way, when the natural end does come, we will not be properly equipped to defend against it (where, otherwise, we would have had 4 billion years).
