In the Hebrew Scriptures Numbers 21; 8. Moses was told to make a graven image which when stared at would be an antidote to snake bite. Then it seems God became jealous because the people began to worship Moses's pole . So the word went out to forget the previous order , it was then a case of as you were. What I would like to know is this , why was it o.k. to make the image in the first place and secondly why according to the Witlesses is it wrong to make an image of a cross or icons for that matter which are not said to be worshipped when God said image making was alright provided it wasn't worshipped?

They began to worship it. It's like the difference between a higher being
with the prerogative and an equal quality being without the prerogative--the
latter acting as God about death is Godzilla. In this case, it's the difference
between an NBA regulation-approved pole and worshipping a polezilla.
