Samuel 17: 58 Whose son are you boy?

    Some Bible scholars consider 1 Samuel 17:12-31 and 17:55–18:5 to be later additions because these verses are not found in certain copies of the Greek Septuagint.,

    The WTBTS claims that these do appear in other authoritative copies, so what is the story and background on these scriptures, Saul, doesn't know him, then Saul knows him, then again Saul doesn't know him.

    The explanation at the KH tonight (Oral review) was that Saul knew who he was, he knew his name etc. but after he killed Goliath he asked again evidently wanting to know what man had fathered such a boy no doubt with the idea there may be other similar members of the family who would be useful to Saul's army.

    Don't know where they get this from but that was the answer for what it's worth.
