as if "christians" really need more bad publicity (may you all have peace!)...

Some interesting tidbits, in light of some recent posts here (bolding mine):

"The Pentagon canceled Graham's appearance at Thursday's event (Graham will still take part in a Capitol Hill service) because his previous criticisms of Islam as an "evil" religion were "not appropriate" to a prayer service for armed services personnel of all faiths." (Okay, he's entitled to his opinion, not problem (although, as a "christian" representative, he seems to have overlooked my Lord's command to "love your enemies and pray for them." Ah, well...)

"We certainly love the Muslim people. But that is not the faith of this country. And that is not the religion that built this nation." (Wait, do we have cursing AND blessing coming from the same mouth? Of a "christian"???)

"The people of the Christian faith and the Jewish faith are the ones who built America, and it is not Islam." (Of course, no mention of the tribal "backs" on which "they"... in imitation of "christ"... did it, though...)

"I'm being restricted from my religious rights and from what I believe..." (Really? Being a "christian" gives you a RIGHT to lead prayer at the Pentagon?? I truly did NOT know that!)

"He also took a swipe at Hinduism, saying, "No elephant with 100 arms can do anything for me. None of their 9,000 gods is going to lead me to salvation. We are fooling ourselves if we think we can have some big kumbaya service and all hold hands and it's all going to get better in this world. It's not going to get better." (Yes, there goes that 'ol "christian" optimism...)

"He also criticized Obama for giving preference to black charismatic and Pentecostal pastors over "mainstream" evangelicals and "the historic Christian majority" of the country. (Oh, c'mon. The paragraph following speaks to this... and for itself)

And for dear WTWizard, if you're "watching"...

"At the "On Faith" blog, David Waters also pointed out that neither Billy Graham nor George W. Bush would [not] have endorsed Franklin Graham's disparagements of Islam. In fact, the former president frequently praised Islam.

"Some of the comments that have been uttered about Islam do not reflect the sentiments of my government or the sentiments of most Americans," Bush said in 2002. "Islam, as practiced by the vast majority of people, is a peaceful religion, a religion that respects others. Ours is a country based upon tolerance and we welcome people of all faiths in America."

Not endorsing or anything. Just thought it was an interesting demonstration of "christianity" by a noted "leader" and thought I'd... "share."

    Peace!

Oh, I'm sure we would/do agree on a few things more than this, dear NVL (peace to you). I mean, if we're being honest...

Oh, and we're done on the other thread, truly. Although you may wish people to believe that you've been left hanging, they know you weren't. I know you weren't. YOU know you weren't. I mean, IF we're truly being honest... and not just playing "why doesn't god love me" games...

    Again, peace to you!

I know. There is no answer that makes sense in the context of the examples in the Bible, that was what I wanted everyone to see. I do tend to get aggresive when debating, but it's never EVER personal. No hard feelings :)

P.S. Shoot me a PM and I'll tell you some of those things you thought you knew about me :)

And I might add that half the Founding Fathers were Free Masons!
