Will the recent KM counsel prohibiting the circulation of personally taped talks make posting them on YouTube a violation of "fair use"?

No, it wouldn't be covered by fair use... not that that should stop us.
The Washtowel organization is the sole owner of the copyright for their outlines and control the dissimenation of said outlines. You might, however, be able to get an exception if you yourself give the talk from a legally obtained outline and then record it for some sort of online "christian ministry". Also, you can reproduce parts of it for criticism.
The thing about fair use, though, is it only protects you AFTER you get sued.
Aren't the DC's public? don't jw's want to get their message out there? why attempt to stop this 'life saving' message from being spread?
Thank you The Clarinetist.
If your understanding is legally sound, (I have ZERO legal training) then the recent KM directions shouldn't have any effect on how much stuff gets posted on YouTube. Most likely, the WT will contact YouTube and YouTube will yank the material in a nano-second.
Any other legal eagles out there?

Not a lawyer, don't play one on TV either. If, say, a rock band throws a concert in the park and everyone is invited, can they legally ban a private recording of the concert being posted on youtube. Isn't the mere fact that they were in the public domain (by virtue of inviting everyone/anyone) and admitting all that showed up enough to invalidate any copywrite claims? Plus, recording is not used for any commercial purposes, only to educate the public on certain aspects of said performer Wondering myself...
