"Yes Man" - a demonstration of mind control?

I just watched the film "Yes Man" not that long ago. In it, Jim Carrey's character attends a conference, was it? I couldn't help thinking about the mind control used there, delightfully played by Terence Stamp.

Person is isolated from outsiders, ostracized immediately for having a contrary opinion ("No Man! No Man!"), coerced by group pressure to say yes when he would otherwise have said no. Critical thinking disappears and is replaced by the groupthink.

While it was a comedy and an effective one, in my opinion, did anyone else notice that? My life has often felt like I've been a "Yes Man" in a lot of ways.

P.S. Was surprised they used Mormons instead of JWs in the movie. Go figure...

Never seen that flick, have to check it out. I wonder if they used Mormons instead of JWs because Mormons are slightly weirder, yet also more maintstream than JWs?

Yeah they took the whole cult thing and amplified it in those scenes for comedic effect IMO.

Hmmmm, I'll have to watch that again and see if I notice.

That girl's quirky songs are my favourite part of the movie.
