Today is June 6th. On this day, in 1944, over 160,000 men stormed the beaches of Normandy beginning the end of World War 2, and the end of Nazi control of Europe. Take a moment and reflect on the freedom that these brave men secured for you on that fateful day. Reflect that this world may never see a generation of men like those great men that fought for freedom.

Well said. My Father was in the Pacific campaign, he survived bombings and torpedoes and was on one of the Battleships in Yokohama Bay for the formal surrender. That generation is fading now, my Father passed away in 1995.

    Miss him everyday.

Thank you for posting this. It gives me goosebumps. We are so very lucky to have the freedoms these men fought for.

    Well spoken.

As a jw we would have thought of them as fools, but now we can truely look upon them as heroes, heroes who secured our freedom.

It's funny you said this. Growing up I never thought of soldiers as fools. Somehow, deep down, and I can't explain why I had this feeling (for lack of a better word), that soldiers, especially veterans, were men to be admired and respected. I truly believe that the U.S. is the land of the free because of the brave.

If you're suggesting that dopey kids with emo hair that exist on Doritos and Mountain Dew aren't up to the task then you're dead on! LOL

I'm so amazed what those men walked into everytime I think of it. Real heroes!
