Is there a special campaign to invite interested ones to this years DC?

Well, there is a campaign to pass out pieces of paper advertising the DCs.
Of course it is designed to fail - if even 1% of the invitees accepted the invitation, the convention sites would be fire-code-breaking overcrowded, roads would be gridlocked, hotels would be sold out, etc.
The real reason for the campaign is keep the JW masses busy and feeling important.

sir82.....isn't it funny how a little tract campaign makes them think they are doing something important? The rest of the world doesn't even notice them! It really is quite silly isn't it?

I didn't receive an invite. I didn't receive an invite to the Memorial either. I guess the JWs in my area are either gone or not so active anymore.

These waste of paper distribution campaigns do serve to inflate people's hours. When they are going on, people are asked to stay out 2 or 3 hours (or more) later than normal, and to come out on days when they normally wouldn't. Including children that need to study for their final exams.
