    Yup, Deist basically means a belief in a Supreme Being who started off our universe and then left it to sort itself out.

    I don't see too much wrong with that being a possibility, but it does not actually answer the big questions as to things like " is this universe all there is ?" , etc. etc.

    The one thing I cannot understand about those who believe the Christian God was the Creator, is what prrof do they have of that, apart from the Bible which has been shown to be unreliable ?

    It just seems like a conversation stopper to me. Just when we are making so much progress understanding life why opt out of the remaining questions by resorting to the supernatural.

    The problem with the 'big' questions about the origen of the universe, life and its meaning etc

    is that it distracts from the reality of IT DOES NOT MATTER.

    Just get on with LIFE as we know it.
