Anyone know of any current elders who in the past have taken LSD or other mind bending substances prior to when they got into the Untruth?
Did it affect their minds at all, if so, how?

Yeah, I know one guy. I think he's fried but it's not too obvious. You can see that once in a while everything goes blank if you're watching for it.

I know of one elder, ex elder now, that took some acid in his youth. Actually he's one of my favorites. Not real serious about things, never got worked up. Other elders would always poke fun at his druggie past. He took it in stride. When his son got DFed he stepped aside and eventually became inactive.

I know an exelder who used to take just about everything you can think of. Notice I said exelder. Last time I heard anything about him was when one of my friends went to visit his family out of town (he had kids about our age) and when my friend got there the first thing the dad was tell my friend to take a hit from his bong. That never was a normal JW family and I'm suprised they stayed as long as they did. The oldest son was cool as hell though. He was a few years older than all of us but wasn't snobby like the people his own age. He'd always let the teenagers hang out his place whenever we wanted and it kind of became a known rule amongst all of us that anything that happened at his appartment stayed there and wasn't talked about anywhere else. Good arrangement because all of us did at least one thing that could have gotten us in some serious trouble there. He was so great I actually had my own key to his apartment and could take my girlfriends from school over there whenever I felt like it. There were even times he'd leave so we could have the place to ourselves. That stuff doesn't really matter now but man, I still miss that guy. He was such a great friend.

I am not an elder, however, I did acid quite a few times.
I also have a neurological disorder-epilepsy. I have asked every doctor over the years if the drugs I did in my youth (between about 19 and 23) could have brought it on. (I started having seizures when I was 26)
I am seeing the foremost authority on epilepsy in my state; he unequivocably stated that I did not fry my brain on the drugs. Head injuries brought it on. I have had 7 concussions that I remember.
I knew all the drug dealers in our area. None of them knew any other JW's who were doing drugs. I was the only one. I still have not figured out if that is good or bad....
