On June 12th in the U.S. the FCC banned wireless equipment that operates in the 700 MHz band. Churches and other groups had to switch their wireless systems to make room for emergency services.
Have the KHs in the U.S. made these changes or are they still using 700 MHz wireless systems? Are they outlaws or complying with Caesar's law? Any necessary upgrades will be another financial hardship in these tough economic times.
Public-safety officials applauded the FCC ban on wireless microphones, but they have expressed concern about the ability to educate users of the devices, because they are not licensed and users — such as community theaters and churches — may not follow FCC rules or even know whether their microphones operate at 700 MHz.

I remember as a kid, our hall was in the flilght pattern for the Airport. Often the voices of piolots talking to the control tower would interupt the public talk or WT study. I often wondered if they could hear what was being said from the platform. Like....." Down the great dragon was hurled...the one called Satan who is misleading the entire inhabited earth "
A few weeks ago our KH started using the wired mics until they could purchase some not in that frequency.
Our KH has the new frequency mics on order.
JWs wouldn't need microphones at all if they had the confidence in their beliefs to actually SPEAK UP about them. Instead they're like that "low talker" girl on Seinfeld who knew that nobody in their right mind would agree to wear a puffy shirt, except by being tricked with "low talking" that people just smile and nod at everything they say, and end up wondering WTF did I get myself into???
At one KH in close proximity to a fire station, three congregations have meetings on Sun (3x), Mon, Wed, Thu, Sat. Any of these meetings can interfere with emergency services. Anyone know how to report a violation to the FCC? Can't find anything on the FCC site.
I recall back when CB radios were popular, that our sound system occasionally picked up someone talking as they were driving by.
Unless the KH is near an Emergency location, I wouldn't think there would be any real broadcast issues.
I would expect it to be more likely when some Emergency dispatcher sends out a message that there is a gunshot victim bleeding in the street somewhere and it gets picked up by the wireless system and blasted throughout the KH during the meeting.
The mikes will be replaced promptly.
