Wow, those are antiques! Mr grandpa used to have a mug with a bar of soap in the bottom. He would put a few drops of water in and whip it into a foam with his brush . He would lather his face and then shave with a straight razor. I watched this ritual many times as a little guy. He would rub his stubbly chin on all his grandsons faces and tell them this would give them whiskers!.. we couldn't wait.
