I would like to know how many people actually read the magazine because they want to. Suppose "The Economist Organizations", THEOS, for short, had seven million members. And each one of those members were required to get the magazine, underline it (not read it, mind you), comment on it (even without reading it), use it as reference for every day life whether you agreed with it or not, and then those seven million people made it available for free to many others. Now, suppose THEOS had the magazine translated into so many languages, et cetera. Would this be a better world? I do. And then the writing style is so much better...

Within the article is a more accurate statement: The Watchtower is the most widely distributed magazine in the world, with a circulation of more than 25 million. They go on to say why: free of charge and distributed by all those JDubs. As far as READING it, ha ha ha ha ha ha. I imagine more people actually read the articles in their favorite pornographic magazine (bought for the pictures) than people who have a Watchtower read the articles.

I posted a comment on that article a while back. Last time I had looked someone had spammed the comment section. It just occurred to me that I hardly ever read the magazines even when I was still a Witness. They were tedious and dull just like the rest of the WTS publications.

"Every month, nearly 40 million copies of The Watchtower are printed in more than 180 languages and sent to 236 countries. There are no subscriptions and you won’t find it on newsstands, but it’s still hard to miss. Thanks to the efforts of Witnesses ... The Watchtower is the most widely distributed magazine in the world, with a circulation of more than 25 million. Last year, the world’s 7.3 million-strong Jehovah’s Witnesses spent 1.5 billion hours knocking on doors and “street Witnessing”
You are all absolutely right. I doubt if one out of twenty of the WT and Aw! magazines is actually ever opened and read. Several non-JW friends of mine have told me that they would accept the magazines at the door - just so they wouldn't hurt the poor JWs' feelings - and then immediately walk over to the kitchen and put them in with the coffee grounds. Others have told me that they will add them to their stack of other unread magazines like the Auto Club and Costco monthlies, and then toss them out unread before some friends drop by.
Think of the thousands of magazines that are left on tables at restaurants, laundromats, doctors waiting rooms, and bus stations that are simply picked up and tossed in the trash the next time a janitor passes through the area. One friend of mine who worked as a waitress at Denny's Restaurant told me that on a normal shift they may have 6-10 magazines left on the tables sitting under the tip money. Sometimes the magazines were the tip!
No, I think there are dozens of other news and feature magazines that have more readers than the WT and Aw! could ever hope to have.

This is a good line from the article "A recent story in The New York Times explored the theologically conservative magazine's remarkable success,"
Theologically conservative?
