When people are in great danger from a source that they do not suspect

When persons are in great danger from a source that they do not suspect or are being misled by those they consider their friends, is it an unkindness to warn them? They may prefer not to believe the warning. They may even resent it. But does that free one from the moral responsibility to give that warning?

While I agree that we should warn people about dangers, and like the fact that what the Watchtower (the magazine) said is perfectly true about the Watchtower (the organization), I also think that the reason to give the warning should not be to save your own responsibility. The simple reason should be that you care about the person, whoever the person is.

The WT teaches that witnesses who do not exert themselves in the ministry may become bloodguilty for missing opportunities to save people who could otherwise die at Armageddon. This instills a mentality that is not so much concerned with the people they preach to but about saving their own necks. This is quite different from sounding a warning of impending danger. One typically does this to save others. In both cases the recipient of the information has a descision to make, but in the case of many JW's the warning is given to save the warner's life first and formost.

I am not sure how much, if any, " responsibility" I have to family and friends still in the cult of the JW/WT.

I try to treat all people I come in to contact with in a loving, considerate and respectful manner.

I take in to account their limitations, their prejudices, their lack of knowledge and experience etc. etc. and make allowances.

Therefore I am limited by what I consider to be of benefit to the person, and what they could take emotionally etc.

For example my mother is 90, and has invested over fifty years of her life in the cult. to "free" her from it would leave her empty, sad, and with no hope.

I cannot do that.

That still leaves me with a problem, younger friends, and relatives , are in great danger, the murderous Blood Doctrine could cost them their lives, literally, and at the very least they are in danger of wasting their whole life as mother has, working for nothing for a publishing corporation which does not even know of her existence.

I therefore will try to warn them as opportunity presents itself.

When the Watchtower wrote that, they themselves were in danger because of their " Cognitive Dissonance " in that the danger comes from being involved with the Watchtower Organization. Of cause they themselves will never admit this because of their own "Self- Justification. Hence, they didn't make a mistake concerning 1975, the rank and file made that mistake.
