So any word on his health lately? What has he been actively doing at Bethel? Any inside scoop?

I'm just wondering, being that he is the last of the GB version 1.0 that is still alive, if he is pulling his weight as far as anchoring some of the current doctrine that GB 1.0 rolled out and is holding back version 2.0 from rolling out some drastic changes? Quite possibly GB 2.0 is sticking to the course, but ya never know...

What about Gene Smalley? He isn't part of the GB, but he is the "expert" on the blood doctrine. Any idea how long this guy has left? Who else in the upper echelons of WBTS power are getting "up there" in age?

It would be interesting if when these old guard members die off if the next generation will try to do some corporate reform. Wishful thinking? Nah, just bored at work and let my boredom take over...

To add... any thoughts on the possibility of adding members to the GB coming this year's annual meeting? Any of our people that know people in bethel heard anything on this?

That, of course, assumes that the GB really can do much of anything in the way of corporate reform. I think a lot of the real decisions are done by the legal and service departments without much GB input.

Also, isn't it likely that to get voted onto the GB by a majority, you have to be pretty much mainstream GB-think over a long period of time? So, is it really likely that new GB people are going to be much in the way of innovation?

I think they are just clones of the old ones - but increasingly dumbed-down clones. Nobody seems to want to be the next Freddy Franz nowadays.

Yeah, you're right. I guess I am thinking wishfully, only because I would love some major change to happen to shake up the org enough to wake my family still in.

When J. Barr was in my country 15 years ago at the international convention, I had the "priviledge" to be an interpretor of his talk in my language. For this reason we had met for rehearsals few times during the convention (together with the other translators - german, polish etc..)

He was really very friendly guy, thouhgh he was quite old alredy. So nice, smiling and friendly .... I couldnt imagine him to make or push some decision, he was just smiling and agreeing on everything, it seemed to me he is overshadowed by the others GB members (Ted Jaracz was travelling with him to the convention and he was the very opposite personality...).

Gene Smalley wasn't a partaker at least back in the early 70s, unless that's changed. I am thinking he may be about 70 yrs old.

I haven't any news either, a long slow painful finale to the piece of shit would be good
