Curious, Now that you are no longer a Jeh Witness HOW do you apply these verses COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE A JW ? Do you agree with these verses?

    I COR 5.

9 I have written you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11 But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. "Expel the wicked man from among you."

Personally I dont consider myself a christian. But It occured to me that shunning is authorized by the bible so there are lots of people that are immoral, idolators, greedy and what have you that are in churches and out of churches. Yet you dont hear of much shunning. How do you view these verses in the Bible. Is there anyone that you are shunning NOW?

A couple of things to keep in mind here. First of all, at that time meetings were held in people's homes, more of a social event with food and drink (this also behind some of Paul's statements about the Lord's evening meal). So when Paul was talking about "association" he was talking about who you invited into your house. Secondly, the incident Paul was discussing involved a man doing the nasty with his step mother, this is a sin so bad that the "Ew" factor alone should have been enough. Nor did Paul ever say how this was to be enforced, it seems the clear indication is that this (like almost all other matters) was something a spiritual person could figure out for themselves.

The Church today recognizes the people need help and healing. Shooting their wounded does not help them.
