The original was an incredibly moving movie for me. What monstrous things were done to an entire segment of our society! It's hard to imagine.

I enjoyed watching and reading 'Roots'. Very interesting story. We all resemble Alex Haley, searching for the WBTS roots. The father and master of Chicken George is like the Governing Body. One day they tell you how much they love you and encourage you in your work, the other day they get angry with you because they realise you know more then what they know and start getting jealous and remind you, that you're only a slave.

I watched it once. I cried for a week. That was enough. It never ceases to amaze me the things mankind can think up to do to one another. The Holocaust, The Trail of Tears....I can't fathom it, I get too depressed, and it makes me ill to watch. So, I don't.

Very good analogy. Made me stop and think of how cruel that is....

I understand your reaction very well, April.

When it aired the first time and last night, it was hard not to get choked up. A young man made the comment about the TV show itself and asked, "won't there be ANY happy times?" Children being sold from their parents, never to see them again; women bought and used however the Master wanted...

It's horrible to think that entire generations of people actually lived through that, but amazing that it was put on tv.

    Tatiana:

I felt the same way about the book. I just couldn't bring myself to finish it. The beginning was beautful, but all I saw was a story that became more and more tragic. I had to put it down. Hopefully one day I can bring myself to complete it.
