Baby Worship

I remember when we had our 1st kid, there was an absolute ass hole of a pioneer elder in our hall.

When people were making a big deal of our newborn daughter, he made some remarks about 'baby worship'.

In conversation it turned out that he resented the adulation given to a new born baby & felt that the way witnesses acted around a newborn was over the top & inappropriate.

This arsepeice was childless. He & his wife had decided to put kingdom interests ahead of having a family. It will be interesting to see how he feels in his lonely old age, childless, bitter & still here, in this 'old system'.

No real surprise when you consider the actions of thousands of JW's as they shun their flesh & blood for the reason of disagreeing with the religion or other reasons.

It seems that in JW land, even loving your children too much is frowned upon.

    A Dream Deferred

What happens to a dream deferred?

    Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
    Or fester like a sore--
    And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
    Or crust and sugar over--
    like a syrupy sweet?

    Maybe it just sags
    like a heavy load.

    Or does it explode?

    -----------------------------------------------------------

I've seen that happen so many, many times.

The above poem by Langston Hughes reminds me of what can happen when we allow others to dictate our future.

jambon1...This elder has no natural affection. How can someone see a newborn baby and NOT "worship" it!!? BTW, my favorite fragrance in all the world is a freshly bathed baby....Love it!

(snowbird....I read some of Hughes work just last week! (Let America be America Again.) So coincidental (to me) you would bring him up.)
