Me: Right now, I'm less than 48hrs away from a JC hearing in which I will likely be DF'd for apostasy.
TNB: Do you feel the WTBTS has any power or hold on you, if not why attend a JC. You don't have to attend, unless of course you have information you want to point out to them.
Valid question. I did consider a letter of disassociation but proceeding with a JC gives me an opportunity to expose certain truths to some friends who are still in. That is my only reason for not going the DA route.
A little background first: I've been charged with apostasy for trying to reason with my parents on specific questions, ergo stating my beliefs. I love my parents but turnabout is fair play, right? They indoctrinated me for 18 years, one would expect the right to at least discuss another perspective that they may not have considered. Wrong. Dad handed over a couple of my emails to the BoE and pushed them to "investigate" me. He's a good man but blinded like the rest.
That said, I've got five friends who are aware of the charges against me and if I go through with the JC and get DF'd, it may open their eyes to reality. Otherwise, I'd just DA. These friends have agreed to testify that when I was asked in a group setting why I showed signs of declining faith, I refused to share my specific doubts. I made it clear I didn't want to suffer the consequences of discussing it. They understood. So for them to see that I'm being DF'd for holding different views and just confiding in my parents.... it may offer a better perspective of what this organization is really about: control.
