Letter Regarding Theocratic Strategy.

I love this!! I posted this to the so-called 'elder' on the Prince board too. hehehe
"We do not feel that this subject needs to become a matter of general discussion among the brothers"
What a crock of shit!
2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

Dear Brother _______
Thank you for your recent letter regarding "theocratic
strategy." From time to time we receive letters of this nature.
The various articles you refer to are most appropriate on this
subject and we have little more to add to this. However, it is
important to define exactly what constitutes a lie. The Watchtower
of July 15, 1981, on page 436, has the following to say about this:
"A liar is not one who, by mistake, utters a falsehood unintention-
ally. A liar is one who knowingly utters an untruth, designed to
deceive and mislead. Lies and truth do not mix. John was
intensely loyal to the truth. He knew that 'no lie originates with
the truth.'" --1 John 2:21.
With the above definition in mind it could hardly be said that
Rahab, David and others were "living a lie" in the action they took
when confronted with God's enemies. The June 1960 Watchtower, on
page 352, appropriately states that Scripturally it is proper to
hide the truth from God's enemies for the purpose of protecting the
interests of his cause. This certainly has nothing to do with
lying. Obviously it is best to emphasize the positive aspects of
persecution and opposition rather than dwell on the negative side
of things. Being "in the truth" means precisely what it says. We
are following the path of truth, we speak the truth and urge others
to do the same. Under no circumstances can we compromise the truth
for our personal convenience or safety. We simply use discernment
and caution when the interests of the truth are threatened by
bitter enemies. This happened on many occasions in Nazi Germany
and continues to happen in various parts of the earth to this day.
We do not feel that this subject needs to become a matter of
general discussion among the brothers. Perhaps it may be possible
for two of the elders to kindly talk to the sister who was
disturbed by the point you made. We have been pleased to respond
to your correspondence and we take this opportunity of sending an
expression of our very warm Christian love and greetings.
Your brothers,
Watchtower B. & T. Society
of Australia

A good illustrative nugget. What is truth? Nothing worth discussing. They don't even tread on sins of commission and sins of omission. Heck, lack of candor vs. lying is not discussed. I wish I could have realized this as a little kid.
