Cultural perceptions of perfection are compelling, but you already have perfection inside you.

Rather than striving for some perfect future life, Zen encourages you to live your life right now.

Humans feel. Acknowledge your feelings so they can pass.

Humans think. Have your thoughts, but don't mistake them for who you are.

JW's and other fundies convince you to give up your life for some future reward.

It can take a long while for a born in to be able to live in the present.

Yet that is the only place we reside. Zen's teaching us to meditate on our breathing, on what we hear, see, and feel around us at the present moment helps us to get the most out of every experience and focus on what is really important.

Getting out of my head, and into the present, silenced all those negative voices the JWs installed in my head.
