Meeting Junkie No More
Couldn't have said it better myself! He makes some very astute points. Too bad he didn't add the scripture in Revelation that makes clear Jehovah will bring to ruin those ruining the earth!
Do all JW's drive SUVs' in service? Well, no matter, it's quite true a lot of unnecessary fumes, petrol, ink, trees, etc. are being spewed and wasted in the worldwide time-wasting work and at least this blogger calls them on it. Hopefully he sent the WTBTS a copy for their edification.

Meeting junkie, that is so true about unnecessary fumes,
there are so many other ways to get the word out other than going door to door.
and this would indeed help save our precious resources.

The guy titles the blog "Jehovah's Witnesses And The Environment", then writes all of, hmmm, let's see - a single post, based on what some nitwit jw's response was to his question.
If the Society treated this "letter" seriously, they'd respond with citations of various Awake! issues that deal with global warming, etc, and say, 'see, we're doing our part'.

No matter what the witlesses drive, it is all a waste. They waste huge amounts of energy cutting down trees, having them shipped and processed as paper, printing up the littera-trash, and distributed to the A$$embly Hells for the hounders to pick up. Then, the biggest waste of gas happens when the witlesses go from door to door distributing them, usually to householders that are not interested and will throw them in the garbage.
And that's not the only waste. How much is wasted building Kingdumb Hells, then remodeling them a few years later, and selling them off only to build another one? That is a complete waste. Besides, the buildings are among the most inefficient on the planet. I have seen the worst climate control systems in the world in Kingdumb Hells--going from freezing to boiling and back in minutes. Once, some idiot turned the heat up full blast on a mild fall night (it was around 55 out at the time), and then had to blast the air conditioner to freeze people. Now I don't mind the cold, but to me that was a complete waste of energy when opening windows or doors would have solved the problem quite nicely.
Also, what about the garbage they generate? Every day, they go eat fast, good-tasting poison for lunch. You might have 5 or 6 pio-sneers doing that. All this "food" generates a sizable quantity of garbage, from the burger holders to the cups. Never have I seen even one bottle recycled at the Kingdumb Hell. Generating this much garbage not only pollutes the landfills, but it wastes huge amounts of energy. And for what--because they are too damn lazy to recycle?

I would bet that the WT will reply something like this :
after thanking him politely they may apologise if the Witness gave the wrong impression . On the contary they have published hundreds of articles over the years drawing attention to the looming environmental disaster.
they may quote the WT '93 1/1 "
"What responsibility do Christians have in slowing down the polluting of our environment—land, sea, and air?
As Jehovah’s Witnesses, we are deeply concerned with the many ecological problems now affecting our earthly home. More than most people, we appreciate that the earth was created to be a pure, healthful home for a perfect human family. (Genesis 1:31; 2:15-17; Isaiah 45:18) We also have God’s assurance that he will “bring to ruin those ruining the earth.” (Revelation 11:18) It is thus right to make balanced, reasonable efforts to avoid needlessly adding to man’s ongoing spoiling of our globe"
However, that would be a selective quote because the article and many others make clear that a J W's focus must firmly be on "The Ministry"...

Before I left, and particularly during the last 15 years I was in, I kept asking why we didn't join in community cleanup projects, it seemed a natural fit. Many churches in town joined the Adopt A Highway program to clean up trash along the Freeways and Highways. The BOE would have none of it. Same with bringing supplies to the local Food Bank.
