I work with a young guy who recently attended one of the mega churches in the Chicago area, and during our discussion I mentioned that I was
a jw several years ago and he told me the following experience.
Two years ago a jw and her teen age son called at his door. Nice conversation so the jw's came back a week later.
(now this guy is a magician,,,, not the graphic cut people in half type of showman, but simple tricks such as coins appearing, card tricks, and flowers pulled out of the sleeve type of magic. he has been doing this stuff since he was 5 years old, and it is basically a hobby that earns him some extra money on weekends working at the local pizza place doing magic at tables for the kids).
So when the witnesses came back, he mentioned that he was a magician, you could have heard a pin drop, the lady came out and said,
"well God does not approve of magic, so if we are going to continue to share Bible truth with you we will have to show you what God says about people who practice magic"
That turned him off toward the jw's and he did a little research online regarding their practices, and beliefs.
So when they came back next week, he was ready......
The lady started in with how God does not like magic so he interupted her and produced three small sections of rope.
Looking at her he said " people in the world are different, some are short (small piece of rope) and others might be a little bigger" (larger piece of rope).
But when you look closely, everyone is still conected. At this point he did his trick, and the rope became one whole piece.
WELL ! This sister said that she had to leave, and never came back.
What an interesting way I thought of getting jw's to leave for good !
