THE Constitution of Swaziland has been cited to have an expelled Franson Christian Primary school pupil returned to school.
He had been expelled for his religious beliefs.
Mxolisi Myeni (16), a Grade six pupil at the school was expelled for refusing to sing the national anthem at assembly because he is a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses sect.
Last Monday, Mxolisi was told to go home by principal Jeremiah Dlamini after he had refused to pray and sing along during morning assembly.
Incidentally, he was told his expulsion was for violating Christian principles that at assembly, there is singing and praying.
Following his expulsion, the leadership of the church came to the school to remind the principal that the constitution of Swaziland allows for freedom of religion.
Yesterday, Mxolisi returned to school after the matter was resolved. He had been fetched from home by the principal. The Jehovah Witness people said Mxolisi was being persecuted for his religious beliefs.
The principal confirmed that Mxolisi’s matter has been resolved.
“Jehovah Witnesses always do things their own way. They can introduce their rule to rule you at times,” said Dlamini.
Meanwhile, Mxolisi vowed to continue upholding to his beliefs.
“There is no turning back. After this persecution, it would be pointless for me to bow to any other intimidation. I am ready to face any other kind of persecution,” said Mxolisi.
