    Celebrate Halloween?

Are you afraid the spooks will get you?

    Do you dress up?

    Do your kids celebrate?

    Will you give out candy?

    Do you dare celebrate Halloween?

    Snoozy..

I love Halloween!!! I first took my girls trick or treating three years ago. I was simply amazed at the friendliness of our neighbors and how well behaved everyone was. Most people were outside talking to each other and enjoying the children's costumes. Even people who were not home left out bowls of treats with instructions for the children to take one. It was fantastic!!

Of course my JW was a very wet blanket about it all...although he did eat his share of the candy.

my kids ages run from late teens to mid 20's...

mixed reviews.... some go balls to the walls
and attend elaborate costume events and
    others dont to anything...

    i live on a rural-ish road with a long
    driveway and barking dogs... and
    do nothing to encourage anyone
to approach ( no porch lights, etc)

the bah-humbug in me is not against
the holiday itself, just the expectation
that i spend money to give HFCS treats
to strangers... yeah i am cheap!!

There is not a specific report on Halloween kidnappings. Dept of Justice estimates 114,600 non-family abductions attempted each yr

Don't let your kids go without an ADULT present.

In 2008, candy was found with metal shavings and metal blades embedded in it. The candy was Pokémon Valentine's Daylollipops purchased from a Dollar General store in Polk County, Florida. The candy was determined to have been manufactured in China and not tampered with within the United States. The lollipops were pulled from the shelves after a mother reported a blade in her child's lollipop and after several more lollipops with metal shavings in them were confiscated from a local elementary school. [4]

In 2008, some cold medicine was discovered in cases of Smarties that were handed out to children in Ontario, Canada. [5]

I think some places offer to "x-ray" the candy. This might be a good idea before letting your kids eat from what they have collected.

Wow Cameo, that scared the pee out of me...

Thankfully I don't have any little ones and the grandkids that are small only go to relative and friends houses..but that report said that the razor blades were made in the lollipops?

From China, what else can you expect...

    Snoozy..

(China is a sore spot with me)

Halloween is not very big this side of the world. Usually clubs will have dress up - which I do! This year I'm off to a wedding that day, was thinking of incorporating a lil something scarey into my outfit, a lace web or something in my hair.

Been celebrating Halloween ever since my oldest could cruise in a stroller...that's been about 15 years now!
