PLEASE! I urge anyone/everyone to write letters to the editor of the appropriate newspapers (Othello, Tri-Cities, Spokane, Seattle, Sacramento) saying good things about Erica and bad things about the JWs and/or rel. denominations in general regarding abuse. In my experience, positive letters to the editor following initial lawsiut coverage can really make a difference prodding other victims to come forward. Besides, it's likely that some JW's will write in with the usual allegations ("She's just trying to make money," "People are always persecuting us good religious folk" etc.) We need to continue to support Erica and keep the heat on those who protect the pedophiles!
More crap about JW's protecting pedophiles. Quit worrying about pedophiles and just watch your kids. You are NEVER going to rid the world of this malady. BUT, you can be a responsible parent by watching who has access to your children.
I raised 4 kids in JW's. (Five different congregations) They were never even approached by a pedophile. We watched our kids!!!
I raised a child - she was secretly molested by the son of an elder. The elder lied about it and covered it up. My stepdaughter was too ashamed to talk about it - until the moment came when she could leave home and abandon the congregation. THEN, it all came out - and was admitted by the elder - and others. It seemed everyone knew EXCEPT us - who had been so careful about her association.
It's all a fraud, a lie - the Society DOES COVER UP WRONGDOING and MOLESTATION. Don't doubt it for a minute! They will and DO protect elders who lie and cover up.
