Well, Jonah preached destruction......said it was just around the corner. He put up a big billboard calendar and started marking off the days....
Everytime people went to the market, there he was greeting them with a countdown...."20 days to go" he'd say.....
"door of the ark is closing" he'd yell. Doomsday, doomsday, doomsday. It never happened.
Sign of Jonah: failed prophecy. Doomsday did not come.

I thought that was due to the fact that the Ninevites repented and so were spared.
Jesus also talked about the sign of Jonah, how he was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights, so the son of man (Jesus) will be in the tomb for three days and nights. The WTS when answering this question usually mention that Jesus was in the tomb PART OF three days, i.e. Fri, Sat, Sun. They forget about the three nights bit! Now that IS a failed Jonah prophesy unless someone can show me otherwise.

Thats because Jesus die on weanesday not on friday. There were to sabbath days on that time but they keep on celebrating the same way the word do. Thats the reason why we must not be part of any religion.

Irtorres2012 - In that case Jesus was in the tomb, Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat nights; which seems like FOUR nights to me. Or do you think he was raised on Saturday? Even the churches say died Friday, raised Sunday.

God sent Jonah to preach destruction. The Ninevites repented. God showed them mercy instead of bringing about the destruction he had threatened. You would think someone would elaborate on the lesson in that.

God sent the WT to preach destruction. WT claimed that God set a deadline---1975. When it didn't happen, it was because God decided to be lenient since more people were still coming into the fold. So God had mercy instead of bringing about the destruction he threatened.
Do you see the difference, Tammy?

Sure. First, Jonah recognized that this happened - was pissed about it because he didn't want to do all that work just so God would show mercy and nothing would happen. Second, I haven't seen a worldwide repentance, and third: the WT never said that destruction got pushed back because God was merciful... did they?

Regarding the three days and three nights:
Jaheshua died on a Thursday afternoon - Thursday = First Day; Friday = Second Day; Saturday = Third Day.
Jaheshua was resurrected early on the First Day of the week (our Sunday early morning) when it was still dark; thus,
Thursday Night = First Night; Friday Night = Second Night; Saturday Night (and early Sunday morning resurrection) = Third Night.
Thus, you get three days and three nights.
