This article is from the 3/1/02 WT, p.14.(How Precious Is The Truth To You?) I wonder how they can write and approve these words with a straight face. Even our resident JW's state that there are things amiss within the WTS.

So, knowing what you know about WTS scandals and cover-ups, how do you JW's feel about placing this article in the hands of those ignorant of WTS's shady dealings? In light of this article,(no pun intended) do you feel compelled to shed some real "light" on this matter? Remember your conscience? That thing that is telling you right now what the real truth is?

Hey, you didn't highlight the tossed about the waves part.
That is their reason for contradicting themselves - the definition of tacking!

When reading that, you have to remember how a JW will perceive it. The article talks about "human philosophies and traditions". JWs think that the WTS is "God's Visible Organization on earth" - therefore, what the WTS says is not "human philosophies and traditions".

It could be called "JWThink" (re. 1984)

    Correct, David.

However, I was really trying to appeal to those active JW's on this board who can't deny that there is "something fishy" going on. Those who may be in a transition period.

Rather than seek the etymology of language, the WT society continually places themselves in the hands of human knowledge and tradition. "The encyclopedia Britania states" etc. Such understanding goes with the flow, with the 'current', and even waves, of man.

It makes it easy to tell a lie when one of the words is a lie.

What is odd is how they keep discouraging the use of "worldly wisdom", and then turn around and use it themselves.

I seem to recall the WTS saying that they have a crack team of researchers who dig out the "cream". This is so that the JWs don't have to risk being "infected" by worldly wisdom and their own conclusions.

The WTS is basically saying: "We will think for you so you won't get in trouble."

What constantly amazes me is their fervour for quoting others all the time, especially meaningless nobodies that have no divine authority from God, or scholarly education whatsoever, "Teen magazine said..." "Mrs Jones a school teacher from Connecticut thinks..."

You rarely if ever see "We the Watchtower society believe..." I see why they use these methods now, its so that when their quoted meaningless individuals is wrong they can just turn around and say "Well we never said that at all, we were simply quoting others thoughts..."

The deceptive manipulation from the WTS never ends!
