Did any of you ever actually have to deal with having concerns and the elders being advised, even though you knew that the elders had no idea of the situation? Any of you ever been hurt by listening to this advice? Any of you being helped due to getting real help?

The elders advised that I don't go to colledge. That hurt me.

I've heard of the elders demonising psycologist and saying things like we cant listen to them because they won't have the knowledge that the JW's have.

I listened to the elders for almost seven years and tried to be a "better wife" Well, that didn't work, because my jw husband's physical abuse escalated into death threats. Thankfully, a "worldly" co-worker overheard those threats. Once they were reported, his psychiatrist, a judge, and law enforcement deemed him mentally unstable and forcibly committed him to a mental ward long enough for me to run for my life. Long story short: elders' advice almost got me killed; "worldly" advice saved my life.

The elders told me to kick out my teenage daughter who disassociated herself from the cong. Because I did not, they then harassed me like the false comforters did to Job.
